Farewell Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Farewell

You told my heart farewell
And I was left with unshed tears, and
With a love that will deepen
Throughout the coming years.

'Farewell' you said, 'I've a new love,
Our love can never be..'
And though you say farewell, I know my
Heart can never be free.

Yes you had found a new love and I
Was saddened by words to you I'd never tell,
I'd only say I love you, yet to me
You said farewell.

Thank you Dorothy. Unrequited love seems to be the rage these days, and yet the die hard right says the family is more secure now than ever. I don't know what drugs they're on, but if they're that good, let's all take some. LOL. Thank you for sharing. Hugs, Barbara
