Fate of Earthen Men
(a poem by Shakil Ahmed)
We are cachinnating and rejoicing
Like a boob of antique barbarians
Of some pre-historic bygone days
Ensconcing and enjoying a sedentary life style
Being incautious of what waits
Behind our back like a colossal mountain
To reduce us as a lump of sod
Our ego and audacity will vanish
Like the bubbles of transperant water
Within a friction of mournful moment
After a sojourn in this profane world
Everyone has to capitulate reluctantly
Before this mighty and stupendous power
Abruptly in a certain ominous day
One has to embark on death's vessel
Leaving behind the mundane and banal world
Terrestial love and tangible wealth woefully remain
And earthen men turns into earth again.
