Fear Factor Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Fear Factor

The fear factor.
Politically invented.
Reliable to implement.
Rumors of a threatened way of life.
That continues within.
And not outside,
Divisions to create them.
Easily observed from no one to hide.

And...
At the expense of those sold,
Of a need to build walls and fences...
Around their diminishing,
Use of common sense.
Lost to a consciousness.
Purposely affecting,
Whatever is left...
Of their mental health.
Or any evidence of it witnessed.
To proclaim and claim,
Themselves still remaining...
Among those sane.
