Fear Of The Unknown Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Fear Of The Unknown

Rating: 4.5

When my old mamma coughs or sneezes
I fear and suspect that someone is hiding there
And I get up to see and find if anybody is there
To snatch away her love from me forever
It happened one day I found someone and something
In the thick of night
When my mom had had cough sometimes
A face hidden but his activities of mischief went on
In spite of my presence there beside him
A sweet music of a like heard in rhythm
Composed upon biting of teeth rumination in between
Lending the midnight air of the room a composure of serenity
And some mangled pieces of paper littered here and there
From where I picked up one into pieces
Jeweled with words and sentences
Looked like a theme titled "Fear of the Unknown"
Written many years back left unfinished
When I was least interested
In so called dry things as poem
Then spotting the culprit ruminating inside a paperback
Was hunted out like by a cat but scared away
It was nice to see mice in mischief
And night gradually melting down to twilight
And my mom hale and hearty at the blush of first light
Though in following days and nights
When mom coughs or sneezes
I fear and suspect that someone is hiding there
And I get up to see and find if anybody is there
