(for Annelize, in answer to N.P. Van Wyk Louw)
About Champagne and glasses bubbling,
candles burning brightly in a chandelier,
music out of the sixties with an organ,
your dress pretty and finer than lace
I have got remaining impressions of you,
how you danced in the whitest silk and silver-gold.
Maybe the images is more beautiful in remembering:
our relationship was brand new and ages old.
Roses, carnations and lilies remained fresh,
just like you in my heart, soul and spirit.
If this feast gets life again,
you will be lovelier to me:
if perfection comes with a new summer,
a life with you that leaves me dumb-struck.
