February Fever Poem by Cynthia Aluning

February Fever

I dont see you in the air
Can't even sense you are near
February month is no longer
To see you around when you loiter

You're fond of hiding to be seeked
Suddenly coming like a thief
On moments I know least
You caught me unaware

As I caged my weeping heart
When love failed another chance
You were trying to pacify
As you shut another guy

I dont find Cupid stupid
Nor brand you a culprit
You're just at a wrong place
Worst at a wrong time

Sometimes I miss your spear
But its better off you disappear
You're causing too much heartbreak
Some of which I couldn't bear

The taste of wine could be bitter
After a while that I've been sober
But I know it will turn sweeter
When Cupid's wings begin to flutter

Goodbye, my friend for the meantime
My heart enjoys this freedom
I can survive without a man
Alone am I to enjoy my wine
