Femme Sur La Rue Poem by Michael Walker

Femme Sur La Rue

ses chaussures elles-memes

illumineraient ma chambre

comme maintes chandelles

elle se promene comme tout

qui etincele sur le verre,

comme tout

ce qui fait une difference

elle s'en va.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A classy, aloof lady, who walks away.
There are hardly any capital letters and little punctuation in all of Bukowski's poetry. For him, 'less is more'. It is a real question whether Bukowski's poetry is 'better' than traditional-modern poetry that has longer lines, stanzas, punctuation, to tell a story, or decide an issue. I think Bukowski has asked the question that matters, addressed to all poets writing today.
