Films. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Films. (Translation) .

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Poem Hunter/ Carl Sandburg/Poems/ 118/457.
He has decided to keep all his old, cheap films and not let them go to the rag man. The films were cheap like the snow, and in ten years they will be wanted again. I think that the red ones, blue ones, long striped ones, and black- and- white check ones, refers to the packaging of the films. For most of Sandburg's life, films were in black and white.
I agree with the sentiments expressed here in such long, supple lines. It is like keeping old DVDs in our time, which I mostly do: The DVDs were sold cheap by video rental shops and were a real bargain. I have played some of them many times over, never tiring of them.
