Final Bridge; Final Link Poem by Jhayvee M

Final Bridge; Final Link

It’s been more than eight years now that I’ve known this girl
It’s been that long now but to me it still seems like it’s just yesterday that I met her
I still can vividly remember the first time I've been to their place
It was her sister's wedding and we've been invited to attend
It was a wonderful night followed by a wonderful ceremony the next day
It's true what they say ' Good memories stay'

But there had of course been times that I haven't heard from her
Time when our communications were lost
Time when I thought she had forgotten about me
Time when I thought I may have to forget about her as well
But fortunately that time didn't last forever
Cause now, every once in a while we share a bit of our time and talk

Just this third of February that I saw her again
I traveled the distance as if she just lives next door
My heart came out my chest when finally I saw her again
Nothing has changed; she's still the same old pretty girl I used to know
We talked about how each of our lives had been
Our work, our families, and our friends
Same old guy talking to the same old girl
To me that's how it seemed, to me only…

I left their house as the sun was setting
If only I can make the time stand still, I certainly will
Cause I still wanna share some time with her
Cause I'm afraid of the possibility that it might be the last time
The last time that I can visit her, the last time I can see her again
I don't know what the future will bring for the two of us
I'm in pitch black darkness; I don't know what the future has in store
May the future be kind to both of us, may it be kind especially to her
I can live a life that's unhappy but I can never live a life knowing that she's unhappy

The Most Special Friend that occupies the Most Special Space in my heart
That's what she'll always be to me
