First Flight Poem by G J Salgado

First Flight

'He watched as she craved for his touch,
She longed for him and missed him so much.
As he hovered over her he knew he couldn't be seen,
She saw his glow but thought it was just a dream.
He reached down to show her everything,
She held out her hand and touched his wing.
They gazed at the moon before they took flight,
Then they both disappeared into the night.

'He knew the past of what she was and he knew the future of who she would soon become. Through the cold icy rain he knew she would come for him. He knew the risks that she would face to save him. She realized that she wasn't the one that needed saving. She was created to be the savior he desperately wanted that would restore life back to him. Her blood ran through his veins like lightning while all that he could do is allow her to breathe life like a hurricane back into him. The thunder beneath them began to be his heartbeat as she brought him back. It was the beginning of what the world would see them as. They took the minds of those that sought them. Turning everything around them into silver and gold. Golden silver dust fell from their eyes each time that they looked through the eyes of the moon. Taking the souls of those that were left with them.'

Dark hearts were for those that faded,
To justify the worlds of those that waited.
Bringing new meanings for the ones that wanted proof,
Knowing all along the way what we all could lose.
We lost ourselves within a war that was never meant to be ours,
Looking for answers until days and years emerged from hours.
Time we wasted and soon we knew what truth it'd send,
Seeking revenge from each other until the bitter sweet end.
Rapid were the kingdoms for they began to fail,
You and I were the last ones so we soon set sail.
We ran from what everyone thought forever would be,
We were the last of our kind and all we needed was to be free.

He loved her and he loved her beautiful mind,
She loved his soul so she opened him up to see what was inside,
She didn't expect what she was about to find,
Unprepared and attempting to escape him she found herself intertwined.
Bound by a force greater than they understood,
It was the earth's secret but if anyone would be so chosen they would,
If anything in the world was more meant to be they should,
If any two human beings should love each other they could.

When the world came crashing down around her she realized that she never loved herself enough...
If it hadn't been too late; who knows what might have been...

She chose her favorite book with the black leather binding
Lost in a world that she loved without finding
Each and every word held onto her soul
It was a story that she would never let go
But she knew there was something else inside locked cages
There was more to the story than what was written on the pages
As she read in between
She discovered its wings
Forgotten upon the blood of the sky
Upon the dust of the moon she began to fly

She was bound by its pages and the story it told
Reading all of the phrases as the tales unfold
Mysteries and romance at the edge of her fingers
As her hand turned while the fairy tales lingered
Page after page but there were no visible words
She read through the souls of magical birds
Through the eyes of mystical creatures
She could see the book's mythical features
Words only meant to grow her own wings
So she read with heart and with everything

With its words she became alive
She grew wings so that she could fly
The world was beneath who she used to be
Suddenly the lost began to see
They understood what she left behind
Without her they could no longer be blind
There was nothing that kept her human anymore
There was always a war against her evermore
When she was alive they knew she'd never stay
She was born to be a sparrow she was created this way

She hid herself well until the right moment came,
Her wings transparent but not unknown unto the rain.
With forces against her they were greater than the wind,
It was her wild behavior that wouldn't let them all in.
They chased her for centuries attempting to obtain,
But this was the beginning of what everyone thought would remain.
Closing her out without asking themselves why,
Whilst their poison consumed her but she just wouldn't die.
Over and over again she always came back,
Her wings changed to the darkest shades of black.
It wasn't at all a race for her against the clock,
Although they kept her locked inside a heart-shaped box.
For ages she lived through the countless times they tried,
But she outlived them and escaped the day that they all had died.

A perfect soul shouldn't chase things that do not exist
Taking the truth for what it is until it twists
She was a thief of her own kind, time and heart
Making waves and tearing the world apart
Walking upon the faces inside the ocean
Drinking from the vile of her magic potion
She had them all fooled by her beauty and wisdom
Seducing us all just miles away from her kingdom

Her blood and wings were hers she earned them very well
Unto the night she claimed her dark horses as she rode them through hell
They studied and labeled her body against all defiance
A darker side of fiction whose soul was created by science
There was nothing like her among planets that remained foreign
She discovered she could never die in the moments she was reborn
