First Sign Of Winter Poem by Kirk Thomas

First Sign Of Winter

Rating: 5.0

Old man winter has his sleeves rolled up
As he bursts through the Gateway Arch
Knocking over patio tables
And hats off peoples' heads
I guess something or someone
Triggered his madness
Or maybe he is one of
Those eccentric folks!
Give him time
He'll slow his roll
Instead of howling
He'll whisper again
He's really mad this time!
Look how fast
Those leaves swirl
Doesn't it look like fire?
Orange, yellow and red
Flames flickering wildly
Oh my! He wants to rid
The trees of their clothing
And poke fun
With fake fire!
Please, does anyone know
How to talk to him?
Calm him down?
Hey you!
Get Mother Nature on the phone!
What?
You say her line is busy?
Someone's already on it
Thank God!
