Fishy Racism Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Fishy Racism

Fishy racism

Too young I, like friends
-was sure, thought: "know it all."

Now older, much older
-I'm aware that I am unaware.
-bow to past, future, present
-I beg you humbly and plea:
- "Be kind and forgive me."

My hero, forever
-has been, is and remains
- "The Little Black Fish."

I read then and remains
-my ever favourite.

After long in same pond
-Fish decides to depart:
-wants to live in the sea.

Decided to follow my idol
-role model, example
-and I did.

In the ponds that fell in
-it tried to make team
-but was booed and laughed at
-narrow minds, brainwashed
-they were sunk in their race:
- "Look at that, we are best! "

Then, I thought read it well
-but never had seen depths
-never had taken time expanding
-to see race and gender
-was not wise to observe the rebels
- (The great devotees)
-Like Jesus and Hussein
-and Gandhi and El Che.

Forgive me: "I was, am unaware! "
