Five Years Poem by Octavian Cocos

Five Years

Rating: 5.0

I watch the eyes, so vivid long ago
When they were filled with gentleness and bliss,
The smiling mouth, with its enchanting glow,
Which spread the love around with just one kiss.

I see the face that once was nice and cool,
Which I admired always with delight,
The dark, long hair, as soft as a black wool,
Which after many years has become white.

I watch the hands that used to have fine skin,
Which tended me with love and which were bold,
I hate to see them bony, weak and thin,
Unfortunate and rigid and so cold.

I wish that God were merciful today,
To think about my mom and about me,
And with five years of life to let me pay
To see her once again as used to be.
