Flashy Sadie Poem by Edwina Reizer

Flashy Sadie

Rings on her fingers, pearls at her neck
so much jewelry she loved to collect.
It made her feel like an elegant lady.
Everyone knew her as 'flashy Sadie.'

She wore rubies, sapphire and jade.
Her wrists all encircled with bracelets that played
all up and down her arms as she moved,
glittering in the sunlight which just proved
she would feel naked without all her jewels.
She would be just like the other poor fools.

She'd been collecting this jewelry for many long years.
She polished and shined them and the worst of her fears
was being without them. What would she do?
She'd be plain old Sadie who nobody knew.
