Floating On The Thames Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Floating On The Thames

Rating: 5.0

Float me down the Thames
Past centuries of history
Show me the dome that Wren built
Row me past the Globe!

Float me high above the spires
As the church bells chime.
Let me look down on cobblestones
As the sun banishes shadows from its path.

Fly me even higher.
Take me out of time.
Fracture my past into mirror shards
Reflecting what never was.

Am I the one I have so recently been?
Have I finished this life I think I have lived?
Am I old or young? Living or dead?
Is this just one more dream?
Am I safe in my bed?

And yet, when I wake,
What I am - what I think -
What my memory retains -
Is neither real, nor a dream
But an intermingling in between.

Leaving me to wonder
How much of me is fantasy
And which part I might prefer to be
And if it even matters.

a powerful penning. If only it had some images to go along with it. Truly a great write. Loved it.

Thank you very much for your kind words. It is based on a dream, so no pictures. It was a little bit of my trip to England years ago and a little bit Harry Potter and Peter Pan :)

Thanks for leaving a comment. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could hit rewind and fast forward on our lives!
