Flying Objects Poem by George Hunter

Flying Objects

Some clever rhymster of note
Once wrote:
'One day as I looked up on high,
Something dropped into my eye.
Gee I'm glad that cows can't fly.'
Well—maybe they can,
Because—

One day as I looked up on high
Something dropped into MY eye.
First I thought it was a bird
That had released a big fat turd.
Then I thought it was a pheasant
Dropping something not too pleasant.
Then I thought I had a sty
But realized it was a PIE!
Cow—that is.

A flying bovine in the sky?
That in particular
Is something ridicular
I meant to say:
That in particulous
Is so ridiculous
.
But we've all heard the phrases
'Pie in the sky' and
'A gift from the blue.'
Maybe the old sayings
Have really come true!
