Foal Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Foal

Foal

Ended work in King's town
-I drive toward south
-thinking of my dislike
-of rulers as monarchs

My red shirt has spots
-so am a lady-bird look-alike!

Clumsy, inexpert as I am
-I drop the paint down
-as I do with cement
-and almost everything

Proudly I like it since I work
-I do so at age of seventy
-I am good and active
-I dislike the nagging
-those sitting lazily!

To my right I see sign
-on it horse with baby
-Cumberland is the farm
-to the south of fourteen
-land is west of Leslie

I look, search anxiously
-for horse that do not see
-flat is the land and
-ploughed is for farming
-but almost abandoned

Tears run down my cheeks
-soon will turn to buildings
-as have lands around it

There will be no mare, foal
-no mustang and no colt
-no baby suckling
-from goat or a sheep
-no worm will crawl so
-no bird comes for worming

The fox goes and jackal
-no crow nor vulture
-ladybirds will depart
-and with them wasps, flies
-even the honey hives
-poor and lost butterflies
-and beetles, large, small
-to the ones that we lost
-chicken in prairie
-pigeons for message

I have gorge in throat
-for ones that will soon go…
-like beavers, polar bears
-grizzly, and the moose
-to name it…coyote

Keep thinking of the mankind
-this devil on Earth, land
-it is time for a war
-worse than past, strong
-to kill man to its roots
-enough are Adam, Eve

Deep in thoughts I am lost
-One of cars heading me
-flashes his headlight
-times and times
-dim and high
-I wonder

"Am I mad, out of mind? "
-I think with that signal
-go further down the road
-to my left police car
-is hiding as if wild
-in hiding jaguar
-for prey to arrive
-I smile to my thoughts
-when I see other car
-rotating police lights

The poor driver is zebra
-among teeth of the law
-marked he is with ticket
-as were the animals
-with the heated metals
-or claws of condor
-or tigers, or lions

I was saved
-save by the mow of a bull
-tat smelled the blood
-then escaped

"What are we? "
-is glued to my mind…
