Fog Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Fog

Fog

Unlike me when normal
Was in bed until late
Overheard radio, verified
The news and reports
Celsius is zero and above
For these days very high
City hides in thick fog

Lazily rolled in bed side to side.
Finally I got up
Opened eye to outside
Shouted: 'F…k'

Scary they are but attractive
Fogged city and sky

The trees and cables
And the roads
Everything in distance
Even houses across
Are all lost

It takes me to that day
That day of adventure
Rented car
Headed for Illinois to see my
Children, new born,
Also wife
Instead came ugly USA at border
I faced the pistols, guns
And orders to 'Sit so, '
'Answer this…'
'What for? '
'Why? '

I, an ex-officer
Survived deserts, mountains
Regained my confidence
Raised my voice:
'Hey listen…'

Lieutenant was angered:
'I question, you answer…'
I replied:
'You are wrong…'

Then told him:
'I am same…same person who could sign…'

NCOs of his team
Guarding me
Looked at us!

I went on:
'…guarantee the people to enter USA in numbers…'

All ears and the eyes; and I talked:
'…governments have changed but…'

Yes I am who I was
Hell with rules and the laws
They change with tip of pen of bastards

Same is now…
