Fodder For The Bother Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Fodder For The Bother

An intention was suggested to me…
Take a thought that bothers you the most
And turn it into a healthy new beginning
Can you rid your soul from an evil ghost?

The laughter of skepticism sounded in my head
Mocking the proposal and declaring it to be absurd
As I attempted to change and erase the gnawing anger
It rose on its hind legs and gave the loudest roar I ever heard

It paced back and forth with a lashing sword of a tail
Gnarling teeth of residual pain were stained with grief
Its words echoed; 'This is my domain …how dare you challenge...
There is no forgiveness…only death can and bring relief.'

Bitterness and hatred reflected from of its eyes
The torturous heat from its breath began to subside
When I recognized that the ache in my heart was self-induced
Immediately I felt a reversal of the relentlessly tide

The strength of beast had been fed by my reoccurring remorse
Haunting memories had stirred the embers and rekindled a flame
I realized that the plaguing past had burned into harmless ashes
Resentment faded away when I released the blame
