Follow The Source Poem by Barry Middleton

Follow The Source

Rating: 3.0

to follow the stream to its source
climbing higher and higher
is the journey of a life
that follows the true path

the journey is arduous
and rife with obstacles
the journey is filled with danger
but the mountain is finite

the source of waters is a treasure
the spring is cold and pure
in that place dwells the sun
where light banishes all doubt

returning again to the valley
the story becomes the message
it shines in an old man's eyes
it speaks in the silence of peace

Though I am not a scholar I am inspired by the American philosopher Joseph Campbell. He says there is just one story, the journey of life, overcoming the obstacles and enemies and bringing the treasure home often in the form of a moral lesson.
