Foolish Accident Poem by ER Bron Chiong, RSW

Foolish Accident

A great day, a fate-full day
the 7th of June 2022, a Tuesday
the day of the kids' recognition
for a full year's accomplishment
and awards bestowed on the toils
as appreciation, gifts of watches
were given by me to my Grade V kids—
JP, Jadelle Shin, Rhaniel and Rich

Another day of merriment as I remember
the three birthdays of my others boys—
Eldest Liam, Kean and youngest John
two of them were under me expect one
these boys were dear to my heart
teachable, caring and obedient kids
that makes their parents proud
filled with memories of days long past

it's seemed like an ordinary day
a quite hot but with a little bit of rain
that same silent and lazy afternoon
before the graduation rites
I tried to be like my hero, Spiderman
climbed the 5-foot fence and wall
with a sudden stroke of fate
down I fell without the help of his web
what happened was indeed so fast
that stunned the crowd who saw the sight
the fall of a foolish and arrogant man
landing on the heels of his two feet
resulting to anguish intolerable pains
brought to the hospital's ER that night
for an immediate x-ray before midnight
the on-duty female doctor's diagnosis
is sprain initially due to the severe fall
medication was provided for 5 days
to rid the pains quite a bit until the result
of the official radiologist is certain
in a day or two…what an experience!
