Foolishness In Love Poem by Daya Nandan

Often, in the initial excitement of meeting a new potential soulmate,
We lose ourselves in our passion and hopes that we only focus on a date,
We get so caught up in our fantasies that we forget to be practical,
Busy relishing in the budding romance, we often neglect to be rational,

This leaves us in a position of proceeding to be intimate, yet being ignorant,
Ignorant of issues of compatibility within two lives that are so different,
Essential questions go unasked as we move forward in a blind relationship,
Where questions of success in the journey will make it a questionable trip,

Not being fully aware of who the person we are attaching ourselves to really is,
Will ultimately lead us to a destination completely devoid of bliss,
And because of our ignorance things are most likely to end,
Leaving us with memories, a broken heart and a new ex girlfriend.
