For A Drunkard Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

For A Drunkard

Rating: 5.0

This life is a bottle of wine
And a packet of cigarettes
And he lying fallen
By the solitary footpaths
Or on the green patch of land
Under the starlit skies
With the stray dogs sitting close to him
And keeping a vigil over it,
He too babbling it sometimes
As the director or the dialogue man
Mumbling and fumbling
And the dogs too barking in answer to him
With salutes and salams,
Sometimes licking the hands and mouth
As for friendship and love shown to and acknowledged.
