For And Against Us Poem by Elizabeth Castleberry

For And Against Us

Under a sheet of moonlight
I lay for hours
His voices comes through the night
From the light, from the stars

Like a well-known song
His voice echoes
Drifting along
Always on my mind

I try to stop these thoughts
This dilemma I face
My mind is in knots
I cannot escape

These feelings of longing
But also of dread
Our connection is growing
I try to resist

If I lose this
I lose all
One precious kiss
Could bring to an end

What seems so right
My closest friend
I can't help but fight
For and against us
