For Being Born To Be Wise Poem by Francis Duggan

For Being Born To Be Wise

On their wisdom they do not put a high price
And they never do offer unsolicited advice
With them shut mouth never does catch any flies
Just some of the reasons they are known to be wise.

A wise person does have the power to discern
And know that from life he or she never ceases to learn
And the wise out of turn are not known for to speak
And attention for themselves they never do seek.

Of the hurt words can cause they are all too aware
And their sort of person has always been rare
A wise person is one you will not often meet
And most of them do seem anonymous even on their own street.

If their type were in majority in the World of war we would not hear
And people of others need not live in fear
And few of them to positions of power have been known to rise
The price they do pay for being born to be wise.
