For Each Of Us Poem by Francis Duggan

For Each Of Us

For each of us there is a first and a last
We look to the future and we yearn for the past
In living we face a new challenge each day
But life is what you make of it some are known to say.

For each of us a beginning and an end
Though your enemy today in the future may be your friend
And the one that you treasure now as your best mate
May yet be the one you have reason to hate.

For each of us there are the good and bad days
And to negative comments on us we would much prefer praise
To like to be liked that is the human way
And we earn the respect to us that others pay.

For each of us there is a final hooray
And age on us show though we cover our gray
And like the food products we eat on us a use by date
For time on us it never does seem to wait.
