For God's Sake Vol 2 Poem by Matloob Bokhari

For God's Sake Vol 2

Poem title: For God's Sake!
Poet: Matloob Bokhari
Country: Pakistan
While walking in the silence of deserted streets
Finding no company
All alone, I was sitting on the debris of a house
No water, no life
Broken guitar strings had no harmony
No soaring birds in the rose garden
No butterflies rising
Night owls were screeching and screaming
All alone
I was crying
I was groaning
I was fatigued
There was total darkness
There was total destruction
Only shrieks and groans of the dying children
Evil empty words of the politicians were coming from the palaces of gold
Sky was burning with bombs
Green Fields, hollow streets and high hills were burning with fire
In the silence of the empty streets,
I was walking,
Walking in the flames of fire
As a soul mourns for the body
I was mourning for the bleeding babes
This world is hell
For God's sake, where is God?
Said a baby, moaning in the midst of corpses.
