For Grandpa I Can Wait Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

For Grandpa I Can Wait

In question 'mine, ' is to wonder why
Then why not wonder You
Time, oh my, is passing by
Wave as I pass through

Little bell where has thee gone
Has time all passed away
Gentle, little, still not heard
Now chime and do not fade

Awake, awake; Then chimed the bell
Awake now 'Children' it's time to play
Oh Grandpa, Grandpa, please get up
Don't sleep the day away

Old and weary awoke Pa-Pa
For him the chimes were never heard
Rusty bones and mumbled words
The old man slowly stirs

He sees the faces of the young
A Grandpa's smile is happy love
Though I have shown him many sorrows
He defies and won't give up

As I must stay true to what I am
I have learned by lasting change
Perhaps this once I will not pass
Today I will not wave

Grandpa, I have rung the bell
Today should have been thy last of days
Live long as I will not continue
For you I Time shall wait
