Higher studies

We were beaten
often
for making absence
in class room for presence

we called notorious
and were famous
for all kinds of nonsense
we had then no real sense

teachers used to complain
parents had hidden pain
we were cautioned for future
we were feeling shame and assured

we were not bad boys
but never annoyed
our teachers or class fellows
we fought always but never exchanged blows

they were wonderful days
that shall make no appearance, anyway
we were to move in different cities
for carrier and higher studies
