For Patricia Poem by Bill Galvin

For Patricia

Dear woman, who lost her Soulmate,
And spread his ashes into the bay he loved today;
It was just one of those things
That happen for a reason,
That brought you and your loving sisters,
And my friend and myself,
Together at this shore tonight.
We would let you know,
Having navigated these waters ourselves,
That your lifetime’s Love
Will not be lost for evermore.
He’ll be with you every day that’s blue and bright;
He’ll be with you in every colorful sun;
He’ll be with you every moonlit night;
And at clouded times, you’ll hear him say, “Stay”;
For you both shall meet again one day,
When your work on this plane is done.

We were honored to meet you,
And share in your grievous pain;
And dance with you in your hour of loss;
And let you know, that you’ll be whole once again,
With a place in your heart reserved for him.

You do not, you can not, know this today…
But, the pain will ease;
And, though deep grief is a sign of great love,
Angels will follow you,
And help you step by grievous step.
You will not fall into an abyss;
But, flirt the edges…
Then, confidently walk away;
And you’ll cross a fallen log
That traverses a rushing stream;
But, you will not fall in…
Since, as you tip one way or another,
An angel will sit on the other shoulder
To get you right again.

Your smile is one of beauty;
And he would want you to share it often.

Remember…
To live in the hearts we leave behind
Is not to die.
