For Some Life It Doesn'T Seem Fair At All Poem by Francis Duggan

For Some Life It Doesn'T Seem Fair At All

One can say that the price he has paid
For every mistake he has made
For driving with a suspended licence he spent six months in jail
And his life so far a sorry tale.

To the police he is well known
The reason they won't leave him alone
A few times a week sometimes more
The cops they will knock on his door.

To ask him where were you last night
A car stolen from under the street light
Just outside of the general store
We thought with that you might help us some more? .

He says again I can't help you
With that car theft I had nothing to do
Last night I was watching T.V.
Why do you keep pestering me? .

A young man not yet in his prime
He has been through a turbulent time
He will be twenty one next July
Not that long ago he was a boy.

Although he is one who served time
He has never been guilty of a serious crime
Yet the police often pay him a call
For some life it doesn't seem fair at all.
