For The Poemhunter Reader Poem by Shalom Freedman

For The Poemhunter Reader

How often when alone
When questioning the value
Of the lines
I so needed to write,
Has a sentence come
From a Poemhunter reader
A sentence
Which made me believe
If only for a self- deceptive instant
That what I write
Really might mean something
To another.

Thank you so much
So many kind readers-
And don’t blame me too much please
For hoarding my writing time
Not reading your lines yet
With the generosity and grace
With which you have read mine.

Mr. Freedman, the poets who read your poems i think do so because they want to, and not because they expect you to read their poems in return. I for one, when I first read some of your poems told myself, maybe your poems can help me understand my father, but more and more i realize i read them because it helps me understand myself. Don't feel bad for not reading more poems yourself (it can be overwhelming really) but do continue to write, knowing they are not all for naught....i'm not the only one who has favorited a number of your poems, for sure...
