For The Syllables That Lie Flat And Empty Poem by Raj Dronamraju

For The Syllables That Lie Flat And Empty

Shine is the word we use when we have nothing else to offer
Burn is the word we use to dress up mundane emotions
Self-image is the word we use when we really mean shine

Empowerment is the word we use when we are really very helpless
Affirmation is the word we use when we can't recognize what we are doing is going to fail
Entitlement is the word we use when we need a convenient and easy excuse

Heart is the word we use when we are getting ready to stab someone in the back
Ownership is the word we use when we are getting ready to stab someone in the front
Motivation is the word we use when we are looking for a reason to give a damn

Atrocious buzzword buzzards vigorously patrol the desert of fat beautiful language
Substitute lexicon leads to cancer in communication
From all sides, meaning is assailed

Feeble listless present day pods carry strange hollow rhetoric
Replace the foundation minds that sent out the message of civilization
From all sides, meaning is assailed
