For To Be Part Of The Social Gathering Poem by Francis Duggan

For To Be Part Of The Social Gathering

For to be part of the social gathering you try to do your best
But on the subject of the group gathering you can only feign interest
They are not your sort of people but not to be rude you pretend
That you do really like them as people and you want to be their friend
You don't want to seem offensive so you do try to fit in
Though them as friends you do know you would never wish to win
It is just a few hours party them you never more may meet
There are times when with our feelings we must try to be discreet
Only the like minded share our interests in life it does seem that way
Individuals form their own friendships as some have been known to say
People do have their own groupings those who are fans of football
With those interested in classical music never seem to mix at all
You too may be at a party where you do feel out of place
But these are the situations that in life you have to face.
