Forbidden To Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Forbidden To

Forbidden to

Full it was of secrets
- (the sealed jar, or bottle.)

Touching cork meant a lot
- (possibly risking life!)

Being born in mountains
-with shadows, treasures
-of many, many years,
-dynasties for ages,
-untold or forgotten,
-or hidden as secrets;
-I had to, as "I must! "

So, I did, turned the top,
-heard click in my mind…

My face and my heart and
-my brain, my eyes and
-stomach and lungs and
-my breathing system,
-and in fact, all over…
-part by part, piece by piece
-were shocked and mesmerised!

When opened the jar's chest
-felt filling of space
-of "Untold Centuries, "
- (no need in speaking
-of savage Indians;
-of beasts and animals,
-unaware and backward,
-brainless and the wild
-with women, squaws!)

I thought of our physics
-and laws of Newton:
- "There is a reaction
-to each, every action,
-in reverse direction,
-equal in power…"
