Forever After Poem by Leslie Alexis

Forever After

The breeze was hot
The night was dry
The moon was big
The sky, star-eyed,
Twinkled like a sun-soaked pond
On the horizon
Of the rising sun in summer evenings
(When the warmth was needed)
As I went tower pelting
Hoping she’s let down her golden hair
And pull me up… so I could rescue her.
A few did.
But the shoes did not fit,
Others, no matter how much I kissed,
did become beautiful princesses.
(I guess the moon was full.)
But I went on.
The rest I found were filled with holes
Their color was not penciled in
They appeared like bags of string.
I hadn’t time to prop them up…
So I left..
Rode away on my steed,
Of pride…
With my dreams of forever after.
