Forgiveness Is Healing Poem by Dhiren Doley

Forgiveness Is Healing

One day
when the emotional sun was struggling
to come out of the envious clouds
and tears flooding my fragile desires,
my mom called on me.
While I was in agony and tears
unstoppably shivering inside;
mom laid her hand on my shoulder,
knowing all my pain, longing, loneliness
loss, brokenness and hopelessness
She asked me "What do you think? "
"Revenge"
She stopped, eyes closed, silent
all of her softness and gentleness
manifested on her face, she told
"Love above all is only the way
one can live
a life of fullness
revenge only hurts, not heal."
My mother of childhood returned
who always used to tell me
Jesus forgave beyond pain
and loved beyond all agonies
and only the death proved
He lives forever.
Quite a long time now,
Mo mom's voice resonates:
Anger doesn't need effort
Hatred doesn't need education
Revenge doesn't need wisdom
Such a healing, beauty of forgiving
Heaven in hand, peace of mind!
