Dear God,
turn away from this weary world,
where smoke chokes the sky
and rivers run thick wit sorrow.
The streets hum with restless hunger,
voices lost in the hum of machines,
hands grasping at coins
that slip through like dust.
Here, love is bartered,
truth is a forgotten whisper,
and hope flickers in neon signs
that no one reads anymore.
Let the rain fall without blessing,
let the wind carry no prayers,
let the stars dim, one by one-
for we have already closed our eyes.
