Found And Lost Poem by Tracey Owens

Found And Lost

Rating: 5.0

I could stay I found something great,
But I never actually found you.
You were distant towards me,
Never saying what I wished to hear.

I shared no memories of you,
Because I had none to share.
When I wished to remember
Every aspect of you, I could not.

I can see your glowing eyes,
They feel like they are still
Looking into my soul.
The shape of your face
Is something I can still see.
You decided it was time to leave
The town you had met me in.
You gave me your final word,
A word I never wished to hear.
I heard your 'goodbye',
But I didn't want to accept it.

Your words put dangers
Into my heart, but they
Also wrapped around me.
The simpliest sentence
would never escape my
Memory, it would remain
Imprinted in my memory until death.

After a few years passed by,
Your words are all I have left of you.
Your face eventually left my memory
And I never tried to remember.
When I thought I had found a friend in you,
I was actually losing you

Such a sense of loss and melancholy! Truly evokes feelings in the reader. Nicely done!
