Four Pearls Inlaid Ornament [58 - 63] Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Four Pearls Inlaid Ornament [58 - 63]

58. Eating without killing a being makes the food tasty.
The people hate a man with a scowling face.
Forgetting the good deeds of others will make one lose support.
If one gives bye to anger, people adore one as the pleasing man.

59. Give others and then eat to get your fame last longing.
A greedy man covets things of others and eats.
Submission to the foes brings insult to one.
Seeking help from worthless persons leads to hostility.

60. Pouring ghee more and more will soar the fire.
Worship together and the gods will shower beneficence.
Feed the calf well and the cow's yield of milk swells.
Serve food in vessels and the minds of guests are pleased.

61. One's fame or shame is known from one's good or bad children.
A grateful mind is known from its response to a request.
One's glorious life is known from one's abundant wealth.
Great men with good character are adored even by the foes.

62. Even among the clumsy eyes, there are attractive ones.
Good wenches are there even among the ugly ones.
The towns with growth are there in one part of a country.
Worthless songs too express good ideas.

63. The world worships if flame is found in the wick.
But they disdain when fire is found in the wood.
They give no respect if the elder is an illiterate in a family.
They praise and adore if the younger is a literate.
