Fractured Mandate Poem by narayana aghalaya

Fractured Mandate

polls done and dusted
hype was meant to be consumed
but then got busted
fractured mandate can't amuse
rulers, their headache, resumes

voter- caused-mayhem
is democracy's pitfall
like that Brexit sham
here too voters have the gall
as rulers, like nine pins, fall

other ways scary
like polls in Russia, China
no use, to worry
rigged, saying TINA
we should thank our stars, why not?

educate voters
to shun caste, faith based parties
or else the gutters
our country is weak at seventy
helps foes to.bomb, in sorties

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In India, recent election to State assemblies have delivered fractured mandate, leading to horsetrading, armtwisting and blackmailing.
This is not good for Democracy to prosper.
Our political leadership is weak andnot cohesive.
Our voters are not educated and gullible.
This makes us a fertile ground for attack by our enemies-
both internal and external.
TINA-there is no alternative
In some countries like China, Russia, Turkey.. people are made to believe that the current leadership is indispesable.
Fortunately, we in India, have no such problem.
Our problem is the politics of caste, religion and the lack of voter awareness.
