Fred And June Poem by Francis Duggan

Fred And June

Feeling dejected and lovesick and mentally down
Fred one of the saddest young men of the town
He will remember in the future years
The downside of love and it's loveache and tears

June the one he dreamed would become his wife
Does have another young manin her life
True human feelings so hard to explain
Unrequited love the cause of mental pain

June of the shoulder length wavy brown hair
In her mid twenties than her none so fair
To Fred she never even once tried to pretend
That to her he was more than a platonic friend

She has fallen in love with twenty eight years old Tim
And is often seen in the park walking hand in hand with him
To Fred's disappointment in truth one can say
What many need most in life never does come their way

It is not truewhat we never had we never should miss
She never loved Fred her he never even did kiss
But mentally Fred he is hurting quite bad
And sadly for him missing what he never had

The loveache in his mind it has grown and grown
And he sits in the pub drinking beer on his own
But the loveache in Fred will slowly fade away
As time is the healer the wise one does say.
