Fresh Princess Of Bel Air Poem by Amani AlSaddiq

Fresh Princess Of Bel Air

Innn Northeast Chesterfield born & raised,
In the borough is where I spent most of my days!

A silly outcast, in light I was a fool
I've got dual nationality, British/Kashmiri yo

The first couple of years of my school were good,
Started giving da3'wah, building sisterhood,

I caught Islam in my sight, and my dad compaaarrred me to a-fanatical-guy-on-TV from a place, don't know where!

I listened to the Surahs and then it was clear,
I had a mission in life I wanted others to hear,

If anything sinister, my sheikha saaaaaid:
'Slow down girl, your weird! ',
...Asked 'why? '
She said: 'Forget it, first cover your hair! '

....I...looked... up against the mirror about 7 or 8,
and said to my sheikhy,
'Ya sheikha, Ureed Jannah li'ani malayt! '

To look at the Kingdom when I'm finally there,
To sit on my throne eating hummous & bread!
