Friend Poem by Raghavan Warrier

Soothing and gentle
your calming presence.
Extending your hands
To ease the thuds
Of my fall.
Sleeping in the quilt
Of tangled dreams
We woke up to the
Facts of a sordid life.
Covering your wounds
With baggy clothes
Of jokes and smiles;
Tending mine with a
Heart of steel
And balms to heal,
Burns of deceit
And lesions of defeat.
Let me
Anoint you with the
Milk of moon.
Vibrant hopes of
A silent prayer.
To take my share
And feed you forever.
