Friends Poem by William Williams

Friends

New friends come into the picture,
As the old friends fade,
It is as sure as the setting sun,
Only to rise the next day,

New memories are made,
But they come at a cost,
For with creation of the new
The old becomes lost.

People all change
Who they were can't be found,
'Cause the memories of their start
Becomes buried in the ground,

As my friends become lost,
My nostalgia sets in,
And their memories all haunt me,
Over and over again,

It seems like a curse,
That I remember always,
Each of my friends
That have brightened my days.

I want to forget
And I need to move on,
But the ones who gave me that strength
Have now packed up and gone.

The title sounded like it was going to be a happy poem about friendship, but I thought it was an interesting twist to have a sad poem about them moving on over time instead. It gives the title a different feel.
