Friends Online Poem by Raj Arumugam

I don’t know about you
but when I sign in
into facebook
(or any online social site)
just as I’m in – there are about six or eight friends online
and then within a second of my coming –
I don’t know how it’s for you, but within
a second of my coming in to the social site
there are only one or two friends left online
and often none…I wonder why…
I really don’t know why…
I mean
why do people all in different parts of the world
decide to go to the toilet at the same time?
And why do they have to wait
just after I’ve come out of mine?
Yes, how is it there are eight friends online one minute
and then almost none the next?
and then the only one left does not communicate?
I wonder why…

But yes, I don’t know how it is for you…
Do they all message each other and more friends appear online
the moment you are on?
Oh do teach me a little of your charm…
