Friendship Lost Poem by Holly Jamestone

Friendship Lost

I'm sorry for my part in this
The times I wasn't there
For hearing yet not listening to
Your need for tender care
For only being there for you
In ways most dear to me
And cluelessly not noticing
Your underlying plea

I tried at times to understand
To know you and to see
The person who I thought you were
Or when you needed me
I felt that we were more than close
Am sad to learn that ended
And wish that I had learned of this
When it could still be mended

So please accept sincerely now
My humble, deep regret
For being much less than a friend
And seeming to forget
You always were within my heart
And often on my mind
A bond I saw as ever true
The treasured, lasting kind
