Frisco Poem by George Hunter

Frisco

Take me out to the Disco
The one right here in Frisco.
I don’t care if I never get back
Let’s dance the clothes right offa my back.

So put on your dancing shoes
What have you got to lose?
Except to get rid of the blues.
We’ll do the whole bloomin’ town
And not know enough to come down.
It will be so much fun
To be on the run
And not get up with the sun.

It’s dance, dance, dance, night and day,
Right down here by the bay.
Till the sun comes over the ridge
Way down by the Golden Gate Bridge
Let’s catch the very first ray.

We’ll do the whole town
From the wharf to the crown
On top of Nob Hill
It will be a great thrill
We’ll drink champagne
As part of the game
Partake of the fizz
And forget where we is
And nobody take the blame.
Ride cable cars
Hit all of the bars
And stay up until
We’ve all had our fill
Of dancing and prancing
And maybe romancing.

So it’s hippity hop round the floor
Not letting life be a bore
Let’s go on a spree
And live life wild and free
And not even count up the score.

This is the place to be gay
Around San Francisco Bay
But it is my fate
To always be straight
And that’s all I have to say.

Later we went to my place
To act like the rest of the human race.
We went at it all day
Tried it every which way.
Read that Indian book
And that’s all that it took
For a wondrous roll in the hay.
Now that we all have calmed down
We took a last look at the town.
It was asleep
With nary a peep
Let’s go for another round!
