From Beyond The Grave Poem by Kurt Philip Behm

From Beyond The Grave

Rating: 5.0

I get along with
my father now,
better than when he was alive

The walls have dismantled,
the barriers down,
a clear vision to inside

The excuses we made,
a pride that forbade,
here buried in the ground

As our spirits conjoin
to sail on the wind
—each other we have found

I love the free flowing verse, especially the stanza 'The walls have dismantled, the barriers down, a clear vision to inside' I believe a Father Son disconnect was common in our generation, when nothing we did was good enough and praise was never given, only fault found if even the smallest fault could be found. My father mellowed at 83 and we are now friends now he is 86. We went out for a Father's Day meal yesterday at a restaurant over looking the sea.
