From The Crater Of Mt Eccles Poem by Francis Duggan

From The Crater Of Mt Eccles

From the crater of Mt Eccles many centuries ago
The boiling hot lava like a river did flow
Through the flat brown Countryside on it's way to the sea
The wonders of Nature quite amazing to me,
The crater at Mt Eccles not bubbling today
Though some scientists and ecologists have been known to say
That Mt Eccles may erupt again in some future time
A natural wonder for to give rise to art and rhyme
Where grey roo, koala and wallaby reside
And where from lamp of day bobook owl in tree cavity hide
The Country's first people many centuries ago
They watched from Mt Eccles the red hot lava flow
One can only imagine that they must have watched on in awe
And felt quite amazed at the sight that they saw.
